Review: Revlon ColorBurst #045 Raspberry

Revlon Color Burst #045 Raspberry

Since my change of hair colour, Emma Stone has become my new beauty icon and, after seeing her look A-mazing (hehe see what I did right thar!) in a berry lip at the Crazy, Stupid, Love world premiere, I’ve decided she can do no wrong. Luckily I hunted through my lipstick drawer and found that I already had the perfect shade to try this look for myself!

What I love: I’ve reviewed this formula before in the shades Coral  and Blush so I wont go into to much detail in this review. One of the things I didn’t like about the Coral shade was that it wasn’t really what I would expect from a coral, but there is no doubt that this one is definitely a true raspberry. I don’t find it to be as glossy as the coral shade but the deep, rich colour and beautiful formula are to die for. This range of lipsticks has definitely got my vote for chic packaging and I think they are good value for the price.

What I don’t love: I can’t put my finger on anything that I don’t love about this lipstick, except maybe for the fact that it does suffer from a little colour bleed, but it’s nothing that a little lip liner wont fix. The only other thing I could pick on is that it isn’t long lasting but the depth and richness of colour certainly make up for it.

I have three shades in this lipstick and love them all, however this shade is particularly beautiful and well worth a place in anyone’s makeup collection.

Review: Revlon Super Lustrous #674 Coralberry

Revlon_Super Lustrous_#674-Coralberry

Revlon_Super Lustrous_#674-Coralberry

I purchased this lipstick on a buy one, get one free offer and is one of the seasonal shades for Revlon this year. I’m not sure that the name of this shade fits terribly well, as I personally can’t see any hint of berry, but it’s definitely a nice option for those wanting to try the coral trend.

What I love: This shade is fun and leans more on the pink side of coral. As this is a Creme formula there is only a hint of gold shimmer, which could be a little daunting for those who are not used to creme/matte lipsticks, but it wears nicely and is very moisturizing. This is quite a bright, pigmented lipstick but is also buildable so you could just wear a light swipe for a sheerer look. The packaging is timeless and has a clear lid to help you locate it in your ever growing collection of lipsticks ( I know it can’t be just me!).

What I don’t love: There are only two things I can pick on in this lipstick and neither are deal breakers. Firstly, although I like the packaging, the lid seems to keep coming off in my purse so it’s a bit annoying. Secondly, and this might not be a ‘don’t love’ for all, but it has NO SMELL, and it’s kind of weirding me out! It could be because I just finished reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, and now know that having no smell clearly makes you a freaky serial killer. But like I said some of you may really like that this lipstick is scent free but just make sure you’re mindful if you start getting a penchant for sweet smelling girls 🙂

All in all this is a nice lipstick that will look really pretty on those with paler skin. I’m not sure that I’d have been as comfortable if I’d paid the full $23 that they are here in Australia, but on a two for one deal you can’t go past it.

Review: Revlon ColorBurst #080 Coral

Revlon Color-Burst #080 Coral

Revlon Color-Burst #080 Coral

So how do you know that you and a lipstick are just meant to be?

a) When you’re on a tight budget, and spending $25 on a lipstick seems a little frivolous;
b) you’ve fallen in love with a particular shade and;
c) on the fourth visit to the Revlon display’s, in many a department store, it’s reduced to $8!!! Who could refuse!

What I love: a sexy bright shade, which I’d describe as a orange red rather than a coral. It looks great just slicked with its luscious shiny finish, or blot and powder it to give a more matte day time look. The ColorBurst line is fast becoming my favourite mid-priced lipstick, glides on silky smooth and is not too heavy, is really moisturising and seems to have good colour pay-off. The packaging is chic, in a matte quilted black case, and I personally really like how the end of the tube is the shade of the lipstick – makes it much easier to find in my drawer when I’m in a hurry.

What I don’t love: although you get a couple of hours of wear from this lipstick, due to the bold nature of the shade, it really needs more regular touch ups. It definitely wont last through a coffee, let alone lunch, so be prepared for some up-keep to ensure this statement shade works for you all day. Also be sure to line your lips when using this shade as, like most bright shades, you may end up with a little bleeding outside the lip line.

I really love this lipstick, it ticks all my boxes – sexy, shiny, bold and cheap!

Review: Revlon Color Burst #35 Blush

Revlon Color Burst-#35 Blush

Revlon ColorBurst-#35 Blush

I bought this lipstick a couple of weeks ago after reading some positive reviews on Make Up Alley and it has become my new go to lipstick! I’m actually wearing it more often than my Chanel Rouge Coco #5!

So I love this lipstick because:

  • It has a beautiful creamy texture that feels so light on the lips, unlike the Rouge Coco, which is a little drying, I don’t notice my lips are dry at all with the Revlon.
  • The colour is one of those ‘My Lips But Better’ shades. I’d describe it as a neutral pinky colour, which would suit most medium to light skin tones.
  • It’s so easy to wear, I can apply it in a hurry and even without a mirror.
  • It’s has a perfect amount of shine with just a tiny hint of sparkle. Enough to make your lips look full and luscious.
  • The packaging is very chic – a matte black case with a diamond detailing on the front and back, very classy
  • It has almost no scent at all!

I suppose the only down side to this lipstick is that it isn’t long wearing, and requires frequent re-application throughout the day, but given how quick and easy it is to slap on it doesn’t bother me at all!
